Microenterprise Development Map
World Vision’s Micro-loan programs needed a simple and compelling way to communicate the diverse nature of its work. It made sense to work within the map metaphor that had been established for communicating World Vision’s work online and in print.
World Vision Icon Series
Creating a series of icons that were simple, understandable, and helpful in categorizing World Vision’s work was a great challenge. A single line weight and enclosure shape was used to create consistency and guided the conceptualization of the imagery.
Audrey Bennett Poster
Audrey Bennett shares an interest in third-world health issues and participatory design, so when she came to interview my professor Jorge Frascara I enjoyed illustrating a poster for her lecture which discussed the use of digital media to allow for collaboration across continents.
Christmas Illustration
The iconic Holiday Inn sign combined a Bethlehem location, Christmas greeting, and a “no vacancy” message to serve as our Christmas card to friends and relatives.
Construction Illustration
Construction is a big part of selling RVs, as materials and techniques can vary drastically from manufacturer to manufacturer. To emphasize Starcraft’s commitment to best-in-industry construction we’ve created a series of this illustrations for each product line that can be easily updated and shared.
Poubliaska Family Identities
This project started as a gift for my niece and nephew. They star in our family talent show each year and I thought they needed stage names with official stationery materials.
Cyrus Carlson Birth Announcement
The illustrations for my son’s birth announcement were based on research of vintage illustrations. They were illustrated in pencil, then brought in to Photoshop to create some of the distress and age.
Settle Inn Illustration
Settle Inn has a uniquely “franchise-friendly” franchise agreement—it’s won awards. They wanted a visual that would quickly illustrate just how different their relationship with franchises is.
Life Matters Illustrations
A regional publication for the St. Francis Medical Center needed to stand out from the clutter of newspaper insertion, so we contrasted the glossy four-color printing of coupons and other inserts—going with a two-color publication that relied more on illustrating concepts than on the typical photography found in hospital publications.
World Vision Metro City Map
The complexity of community development was a challenge for World Vision to communicate. My job was to make this simpler. After several concepts I settled on a progressive map that, when viewed from left-to-right, showed the growth of a community and illustrated key aspects of World Visions work.
